I had the Inspire Sleep device implanted on 11/24/22, and turned on 12/27/22. I was in afib around Nov. 1, so do not think that Inspire was the cause. I had a cardioversion on 1/18/23. First patient the Duke doctors had done with the implant. There was a protocol in place for the Inspire device. Cardioverted first try and in sinus rhythm for 2 weeks, then back in afib. Right after cardioversion I had to use my regular sleep apnea machine w/mask for 2 weeks. I went back into afib which I have been treated over 10 years. I went to my surgeon to turn Inspire on to be on the safe side--all went well. I am now going into the 7th setting this week. Here are my comments. Yes there was some pain after the surgery and I did have a headache for a few days due to how you lay during surgery. My 2" neck healed faster than the 2" chest incision. I no longer have any pain in the neck but the chest incision bothers me every so often. Sometimes if I lay on my side it hurts when I turn. It is my understanding after ~six months this will go away as the device has to become encapsulated into the scar tissue. The scar on the chest itches at times also. However, every day is better than the last. Every time I increase the level of the device I notice the strength more at the beginning and after a few days it resolves and does not bother me. Once I reach my ultimate level, I expect I will sleep as normal. I remember getting used the the sleep apnea machine and mask which took time as well. If you remember this, then remember the Inspire device is similar. Be patient, go slowly, and do not rush the settings. Just wanting to continue my journey until the sleep study takes place and I find out the results. The good news for me was that I met someone by chance that had the same doctor and implant 2 months before me. We compared stories which had an impact on my journey. The surgeon's office was attentive to our individual needs as well as the 24 hour hotline. If you are considering this surgery, please know everyone has a healing and device process that lasts a few months. It is not instant gratification. I am 75 and the surgery has been worth it.

I've had inspire activated for a m9nth now. Is it supposed to constantly shock the tongue muscle even when breathing out? Mine shocks the tongue continously thru out the night whether breathing in or out. I still snore

One comment I have…Nothing in the instructions speaks to the tension of the belt around your chest. I was standing when I put mine on and since it wanted to slide downward, I kept increasing tightness until it was snug-firm (I would not classify it as tight). Unfortunately, I woke after 3 hours feeling a severe ache at the front sternum point and the back spinal point directly under the belt. Although I immediately loosened the belt, the pain continued and kept me from falling back to sleep. The only way I was able to alleviate it was to sit up. Eventually I moved to a recliner that allowed me to be in a semi-reclined position and I was able to fall back to sleep after an hour or so. It took a good 24 hours for the aching to completely dissapate. I have not received my sleep study results to learn how this affected the data.

Easy to do. Easy to sleep in. Specific instructions are needed for women in wearing the belt. I wore it above my breasts which was more comfortable than over them or below them. There were some counterdictory instructions on different pages of the instructions. 1)The oximeter was not disposable and one instruction said to not return it but to dispose of it. 2)Also one instruction said to attach the canula end to the data collection box, counter clockwise and on another page it said twist it clockwise. The apparatus arrived a day late. Returning was so easy!

As far as the product and company goes, I feel good about them, came in on time.The service with Fernando was good in helping me. My problem is I have trouble sleeping with anything on my face. I hope the product resolve a good reading. When I get the results, I would give a better answer/

Very comfortable facility, great sleep specialist technician handled my sleep study. The administration is a little disorganized regarding paperwork, did not have me on the facility schedule, but the sleep specialist did some research and found my appointment on the computer. Not his fault at all! I had asked them to send me registration paperwork ahead of time, twice, and never received it so I had to fill it our when I arrived.

My experience was terrific. The technician I worked with, Amanda, as well as the additional staff, were very kind, patient, hard working, knowledgeable and efficient. The location is safe and there is plenty of parking and of course the facility and its resources are excellent. I would recommend this place to anybody who needs to do a sleep study. Thank you!

I had a wonderful experience at this facility. Particularly the one in Torrance. My tech was awesome, he really made my stay comfortable. The staff were polite, attentive, and helpful.. I personally enjoyed my stay at Advanced Sleep Medicine. It felt more like a getaway than a sleep study..

Took my son in for the study and Andrew, the tech, was awesome. He walked my son through everything and explained what each of the wire was for. He talked to him as a person, not a child and just had a conversation with him. Made the experience that much easier and helped to ease my son’s nerves.

Great experience! I was made completely comfortable and well taken care of. Even though they have to monitor you with tons of wires hooked up to you it was easy to fall asleep. It was a nice cool night sleep for a hot sleeper like myself. Nurse was Excellent at communicating everything that I need to know about the study and made me feel comfortable and well taken care of. Easy to do. Pick up machine and take it home. Follow instructions and then you can go to sleep. Wake up and take off the device. Bring it back to the location you picked it up at. Wait for your results.

The home test was easy but I wonder if it gives the kind of data of a true sleep study. It seemed rather shallow as a study, but if it gives full data, I guess it's okay. The equipment was fine and the staff was professional and courteous.

The facility was very nice, almost like staying in a hotel. The tech on duty (Dane) was very professional. Explained every detail as we went along and was very reassuring. I did put on the CPAP about halfway through the night and not having used it before, it took some getting used to. Again, Dane was very supportive.

The entire experience was great. It was very clean, the rooms were nice and the bed was very comfortable. Alex was the person who monitored my stay. He was great, explained everything and was attentive and helpful throughout. He was also quite funny, which helped ease the experience of being completely wired up and plugged in! I was amazed at the professenalism and friendliness of the staff. They explained what was to happen and quickly disspelled my anxiety. I fell asleep quickly and had a wonderful night's sleep. The facilities and bed were clean and comfortable. Only 1 problem..nobody gave me an explanation of what to expect. No written instructions either. Need to get this information to patient!

Terrible experience. The guy Sleep technician was rude.At the end he is very reluctant to wipe out connection points over the head and face leaving you go home with horrible looks of messed hair and face while going for everyone to see coming back from a horrible place.But when I insisted was rude gave me tissue paper telling you have to clean your self.I said I can’t see what is over my head then he was very rude and reluctantly or half heartily partially wiped making no difference still left me going home ugly looking face.I said why did you not having small hand towels available then He blamed the management don’t give any towel.He didn’t know how to wrap around blanket around the feet leaving me with cold feet.He had mask set on high pressure causing more disturbed sleep and messing up with the sleep results/assessment. He is very angry and rude guy more over how Sleep results could be reliable.

My husband and I were there last night. The two techs were knowledgeable and put both my husband and myself at ease. The building outside is well kept up. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. I now know why I'm tired most of the day. This morning is the best I've felt in YEARS!This is the place to go if you need to be tested for sleep apnea.
